    Percy Spencer is about to go bankrupt fbecause WWII has ended and the demand for magnetron tubes is really low. He notices that while standing near an active magnetron tube that the candy bar in his pocket melted. He experiments with different foods and makes the first microwaved popcorn. Spencer then created the first true microwave oven by attaching a high density electromagnetic field generator to an enclosed metal box. Raytheon patented the microwave oven on Oct. 8, 1945.
