    A Growing Family
My family is an adoptive family and I am the proud older sister to 14 siblings. Growing up in a foster home made sure that life was never boring but it also had its own set of unique challenges. I learned that family has little to do with skin color and DNA and everything to do with compassion and loyalty.

    Creative Discovery
It was a rule in my house growing up that we HAD to be involved in some sort of extra-curricular activity. My mom enrolled me in several sports programs (soccer, tennis, gymnastics, dance, softball, etc.) and I was absolutely terrible at every single one. In 5th grade, I started playing the violin and it changed my life. I still play to this day!

I was diagnosed with Crohns disease in 7th grade. My condition turned my life upside down. It is a strange and frusturating thing when your body does not work like it is supposed to. I was sick for a long time and spent six years trying to find a treatment option that would allow me live a normal life. Having a chronic disease taught me to not take my health for granted.

    A Great Loss
My brother, Jose, passed away from Leukemia my senior year of high school. It was the worst year of my life and I miss him everyday. Shortly after his death, my mom started a charity for foster families called Jose's Closet. It is through this organization that we remember and honor him.

    Graduating from ASU
Wow! Those few years were a whirlwind. I became a "grown up" while in college. Life was so much more complex than I thought it was. I moved out on my own, bought a car, worked through school, ended some friendships and made new ones, and was exposed to the great big world of being an educator. These were some of the best years of my life.

    Married Chris Day
I married the love of my life, Chris. We had a beautful ceremony and celebrated our marriage with all of our closest family members and friends. I do not know what the next chapter of my life holds, but I am happy to do it with him!
