  • Military School, 1779

    Napoleon was now ten and he attended a French military school. He was transferred to a new school where he was teased for his Spanish language. Even though he was relentlessly teased, Bonaparte received a great education.
  • The French Revolution, 1789-1793

    After Napoleon returned to France, he took a huge part in the French Revolution against King Louis XIV. After his victory, Bonaparte established a republic and moved high up in his military ranking.
  • Establishing a New Government, 1804

    Because of the struggling government of France, Bonaparte helped establish a set of laws and regulations. It was called the Napoleonic Code. This helped improve the governments of many different countries.
  • Defeat at Waterloo, 1815

    The Battle of Waterloo would end the twenty three year reign of Napoleon and his battles. The battle was during Napoleon's 100 days of restoration against British, Dutch, Belgian, and German troops totaling 113,000 soldiers, against Napoleon's 75,000 soldiers, including 45,000 Prussians.
  • Early Years, 1769

    Because Napoleon Bonaparte's father was an Italian nobleman who had close bonds with the French, they were not killed by the French when they invaded Corsica. Napoleon began his education at an only boys school.
  • Married Life, 1796

    Napoleon Bonaparte married a French woman by the name of Josephine de Beauharnais. He unfortunately left her due to circumstances with taking control of the Italian military. He was a hero to all of the French.
  • Conquering Egypt, 1798

    Napoleon moved out to conquer Egypt. He departed from France with a sum of thirty-five thousand soldiers. After conquering Egypt, Napoleon made it strong and powerful but encountered problems with Britain when the British Fleet attacked the French Fleet.
  • Becoming Emperor, Late 1804

    Napoleon became very popular in the eyes of many French people because of all of the wars and things he was doing to support France. He was considered a hero. He was pronounced and officially became emperor of France in late 1804.
  • Exaltation, 1814

    Napoleon was declining on his ability to rule as emperor. He was exiled on May of 1814 to the island of Elba. Later on, he escapes by sea and arrived back in France. There, he started his 100 days of redemption.
  • 100 Days of Restoration, 1815

    In order to regain his seat as emperor, Napoleon escaped Elba and went to Paris with 1,500 men. King Louis XVIII fled and Napoleon made liberal changes to the government and constitution of France so people would support his cause.
  • Exiled Once More, 1815

    After Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, he fled back to paris where he was conjuring up a plan to escape to the United States but the plan wouldn't work because of a British Squadron. King Louis XVIII was returned to the throne, and Napoleon was turned over to the British and he was exiled to St. Helena, where he died on May 5, 1821.
