    June 5 1878: This is a day that everybody knows. Jose Doroteo Arango Arambula( nickname Pancho Villa) was born. His surroundings were part of Durango, Mexico.

    Pancho Villa changed his name while escaping before getting caught by the authorities. In the late 1890s, he worked as a miner in Chihuahua and also sold stolen cattle. However, it wasn’t long until he got more serious crimes put on his record like robbing banks and taking from the rich.

    In 1893, Pancho Villa’s father died. Pancho was only 15 when it happened. He would have to take the new role of being protector of the household.

    When Villa’s father died, he became head of the household. He shot a man for messing with one of his sisters in 1894. His run away in the mountains, was six years long. When he was in the mountains, he joined a group of fugitives and became a bandit.

    In 1910, Pancho Villa joined Francisco Madero's uprising, that was against Porfirio Diaz who was a dictator and Pancho was successful. Villa’s abilities were good at reading, writing, and knowledge of the land. These skills would be advantages for him in many battles and problems.

    In 1912, General Victoriano Huerta and Villa sought to protect Madero’s recently discovered authority, but after Huerta blamed Villa for stealing his horse, Pancho Villa’s execution was ordered. However, Madero was able to cancel Villa’s execution. As a result, he had serve time in prison in June 1912.

    After escaping in December, it was known that Huerta was now against Madero’s government and he assassinated Madero on February 22, 1913. As Huerta increased in power, Villa teamed up with a former ally, Emiliano Zapata, and Venustiano Carranza to defeat the new president. Villa was an experienced revolutionary leader, and controlled a lot of the northern Mexico military forces during the uprising.     The people were upset about Carranza’s ability as a leader, a rebellion broke out yet again, with Villa joining sides with Zapata and President Woodrow Wilson to take down Carranza. With Mexico moves toward democracy below Carranza, Woodrow took away his support of Pancho the following year, leading Villa kidnapping and killing 18 Americans in January 1916.     Wilson got even by sending General John Pershing to Mexico in order to capture Pancho Villa. Regardless of Carranza’s support in hunting down Villa, the two searches that happened in 1916 and 1919 for the Mexican rebel produced no results. In 1920, Carranza was assassinated and Adolfo De la Huerta became the president of Mexico.     Jose Doroteo Arango Arambula was assassinated in July 20, 1923. He was killed while visiting Parral, Mexico. He made frequent trips from his ranch to Parral for banking, and other errands, where he generally felt secure.
