    The French and Indian war is one of the bloodiest wars in the 18th century. Each side want to increase its land holdings. Unfortunately the French and the Indians were unsuccessful so British got the rest of the lands.

    Proclamation of 1763
    King George the 3 made this to give news that he has finally acquired this land. The Royal Proclamation continued to be legal of importance to First Nations in Canada. British culture and laws were applied to Canada after 1791. It attracted British settlers to the province.

    Sugar Act
    Colonial merchants had been required to pay 6 pence per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses. Because of the corruption, they evaded the taxes and undercut the intention of the tax.Parcilment decided it would be wise to make a few adjustments to the trade regulations.

    This was the first internal tax directly on American colonist. The act, which faked a tax on all documents in colonies. The colonist said it was unconstitutional, and they started to have mob violence.

    Townshend Act
    It was series of 4 acts passed by the British Parliament. The British American colonist named the act after Charles Townshend. These acts were mainly for one reason.... And that was taxation.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soldiers went to go support a sentry who was being snowballed by a crowd. 3 people died right then and there, and two others died from their wounds. The British officer that was in charge, and a few of his men were arrested for man slaughtered.

    The British government accepted the East India company a monopoly on the importation and sale of tea in the colonies. Colonists boarded East India Comapny and dumped their loads of tea to the ocean. Parliament responded with serious of harsh ways.

    The midnight raid was in protest of the British Parliaments Tea Act of 1773. The low tax allowed the east India Company to undercut tea smuggled into America. Many colonist views the act as another example as taxation tyranny.

    It was a way to punish the colonist for the Boston Tea party. This made colonist very angry. They prepared for war for their Declaration of Independence.

    The Declaration of Independence
    This finally admitted as no longer part of Great Britain. John Adams was a leader pushing for independence. Finally the 13 colonies had no longer been part of Great Britain.
