    The Soviet Union counterattacks the German army by strategically barricading the opposing army. This was the turing point in the war for the Soviet army. Operation Uranus enclosed 200,000-250,000 German troops near Stalingrad who unfortunately were unable to receive adequate supplies and were unprepared to surrive the harsh Russian winters.

    Operation Saturn was the second counterattack delivered by the Soviet Union. During this attack the Soviet Union fought to take the city of Rostov near the Caucasus and to trap the remaining German army.

    Operation Bagration was a battle initiated by the Soviet Union to eradict the German forces from Belorussia and Poland. This battle significantly effected the German army; roughly over half a million German troops lost their lives during this battle.

    The Soviet Union was able to defeat the German forces along the Vistula river which was close to the Oder River (43 miles from Berlin). This entrance into Geman allowed them to make their way to the city of Berlin.

    The Soviet Union attacked the city of Berlin, Germany from the East and West. Over the course of a few days the Soviet Union defeated the German forces resulting in the surrending of Berlin to the Soviet Union (May 2) .This defeat marked the end of WW2 and the defeat of the Nazi Army.
