    Japan Attacks Russia
    Russia faced crises from the revolutionaries. This caused czar to show signs of weakness and this was the fondation to the revolution. In February of 1904 Japen attacked Russia because Russia broke the rules of an agreement they had together. Russians were loosing all attacks put upon them and this led to a revolt by the russian people.

    Petition Causes Bloody Sunday
    The revolutionaries wanted to have better working conditions and more freedom so they created a petition. Nicholas II did not agree and sent order for soldiers to attack the revolutionaries. over 1,000 were injured and hundreds died. This led to even more outbreaks of violence and soon Nicholas decided to create a parliment called the Duma which promised more freedom in october of 1905.

    Parliment Abolished
    The Duma (first parliment) was made up of moderates. These moderates wanted Russias government to be more like Britians, rhey wanted a constitutional monarchy. met for the first time in may of 1906. Czar was afraid that his power would be minimized and so he abolished the parliment for selfish reasons.

    Nicholas II ordered for entry into World War I in 1914 to fight with britian. Russia had a weak military and from an economical standpoint, they were not prepared. The Germans annihilated the Russians and over 4 million Russian lives were lost. This displayed the weakness in Czars reign.

    Rioters force Czar to Step Down
    In March of 1917 the woman started to revolt due to lack of fuel and bread. As did before, Nicholas II ordered for the soldiers to attack and they did, but soo they flipped sides and instead faught with the rioters. Nichlas was left with no choice other than to give up his power. The war got worse and the governent collapsed.

    The Bolshevik Guards, also known as armed factory workers, stormed the winter palace. They tooke over the government office arrested the provisional government leaders. Kerenskey and his colleages disappeared in a short matter of time. Days later, Lenin took the farmland and divided it among the pesants.

    Treaty Murders Royal Family
    The treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed by Russia and Germany. Russia gave up a large quantity of territory to the Germans. The Russians were humiliated and outraged resulting in them murdering the royal family.

    The civil war raged in Russia. Many western natiions (including U.S) sent military aid and forces to Russia to help the White Army. Even with the help of others, the Bolsheviks still won and proved they were capable to take power and they kept it.
  • NEP

    NEP
    Russias economy plummeted greatly. The new economic policy (NEP) was created by a man named Lenin. This olicy made is possible for peasants to generate an income by selling crops rather than having to give them to the government. The government still had control over the major industries but people could conrtol small private businesses.

    Results
    In 1922 Russia was named the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Lenin suffered and survived a stroke and Stalin, general secretaryof the communist party, worked to take oontrol and became the dictator.
