  • Started at a Small Christian School. Attended 4 1/2 years (4th-8th grade). - Personal History

    I was homeschooled for most of my life, but for these years (halfway through 4th grade through 8th grade). It was a meaningful time in my life, and I have many fond memories from these years.
  • Dad Got a Music Minister Job at a Different Church - Personal

    This was a major change in my life. My family had been at our previous church since I was born, and I was not excited about the church move. However, I gained some good friendships during our time there. My dad is still the Music Minister at this church.
  • Church Nursery - Professional

    I started working in the nursery at church. Although I was working with really young children, this gave me exposure with how to manage a large group of children for a period of time. I also did a lot of other babysitting and childcare throughout high school.
  • Found 2 Newborn Kittens in Our Shed - Personal

    There had been a feral cat coming around our house for a few month. She was pregnant, and she ended up having her kittens near our house. We found two in a tarp in a mop bucket in our shed outside. We raised them from about 3 days old, for the mother had disappeared. This included 'round the clock feeding. We still have these cats today.

    I consider this an important part of my professional history because this year as a nursing major made me realize that teaching was my true calling. I am not a techinical science person. My calling is children, and this helped me realized that I was called to care for students in one of the most important ways: teaching the next generation.
  • Changed Major to Education

    Over the summer between my Freshman and Sophomore years of college, I realized that I was called to be a teacher, not a nurse. Therefore, as soon as I got back to school from the summer, I immediately went through the process of changing my major.
  • First Practicum Placement

    My very first practicum placement further solidified my choice to be a teacher, I fell in love with the students, and I have become even more passionate about students since then. The more I am prepared to teach, the more I realize that this is exactly what I need to be doing with my life.
  • Started Dating My Boyfriend - Personal

    My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost a year and a half now, and he is a very important part of my life. We met during a theatre production, and we both enjoy performing on the stage on a regular basis.
