VHS
We watched movies using VHS tapes. I remember being annoyed when someone didn't finish watching a movie, and having to rewind through a movie, and also forwarding through previews -
Cassette Tapes
I remember for my birthday, I was probably 7. I got a Leann Rimes and Shania Twain cassette tapes. I had this really dinky cassette player, and I remember having to forward to my favorite songs. I also remember that the tape would go off track, and you would have to use a pencil to rewind it. -
Computer
We got a computer for Christmas. I remember that my parents didn't really know how to use it. I was taking computer classes in elementary school, and knew how to use it better than them. We also had a whole disk set of Encarta. I spent a lot of time on Paint and playing Solitaire. -
CD Walkman
I finally got a CD Walkman, and CDs for Christmas one year. I got N'SYNC's "No Strings Attached." I remember being so excited that I could skip back and forth between songs. -
Cell Phone
My family got a cell phone. I am not even sure why we had one. The plan was really old school. We had 75 minutes, and no texting. I remember playing the snake game on her phone. -
DVD
I remember that my family was really behind on the DVDs. We would go to Blockbuster, and be frustrated because there were more DVDs than VHSs. All the new movies were just coming out on DVDs, and not on VHSs. We once tried to rent a DVD, and play it on our computer, and it didn't work. I remember being amazed at being able to just hit the menu button, and also scene selection! -
Cell Phone
I got my first cell phone when I was 15, because my parents wanted to be able to contact my while I was hanging out with my friends. It was a flip phone, and I downloaded ring tones to it. I also had a very small texting plan. I had 1000 texts, and I thought that was a lot, but I went over the first month. It was a lot of money. -
Kindle
I got a Kindle from my husband for Christmas. I loved to read, and this was a nice way to be able to get more access to books. This was the basic Kindle, all I could do was read. I could also read without having to be connected to the internet. -
Smart Phone
I didn't get a smart phone until 2011, two years after I had married my husband. I don't remember much about it. -
Apple Watch
I got an Apple Watch so that I could have better access to my messages while I was teaching, and not have to look at my phone. I think it is really awesome. -
Smart Home
We got our first Nest addition to our house. It was really awesome to be able to control the temperature of our house from our phones, especially when we were on vacation.
