The Apocalypse

    An Introduction

I chuckled for a good minute at this assignment because I have quite literally always prepared for this situation. Let’s go through a hypothetical.
  • Period: 1 CE to 4

    The First Couple Days

Generally speaking, I run the heck out of my house but for the first couple of days I’ll stay. My family has a lot of food like canned stuff. Generally lightning and heating/cooling isn’t a problem since we are an extremely Asian house and we don’t really use any of those a lot since my grandpa is extremely conservative about the bill for both of those. To be honest, this wouldn’t be any different from a normal day here
  • Period: 5 to 7

    Planning Everything

After a while, I’d take advantage of the lack of tech and electricity. It would start motivating me to start wanting to travel. I’d start packing up things like food, water, a blanket, some clothes, a moderately good sized pot, and some basic things for hygiene to take with me.

    Travel Planning

    Travel Planning
Given my girlfriend is in Missouri and just in general I’d like to travel across the us, I’d leave the house to have an adventure. I’d travel by foot just because of how peaceful it seems. I’d travel maybe by skateboard or bike but those seem like they waste more effort. Hypothetically this would take a week. I could use maps and other things like compasses to help guide me in my journey to the west.
  • Period: 7 to 14

    Journey to the West

After packing enough to carry me on for a few days. Hypothetically it would take me a week to get to Missouri on foot. But that being said it will probably take me longer considering I pass any states my crusader friends are in. Of course, I’d have some clothes packed but that being said I’ll only wear the ones I wear when I’m walking. Funnily enough I’ll be wearing my armor on the way, mainly because I always loved the idea of a knight in the middle of the apocalypse.

    Variables (Personal Management)

    Variables (Personal Management)
Now this journey would take a week. That being said food won’t be a problem. I don’t eat much anyways so I can portion my food to last me for days. The problem with this journey is the variables in between my trips, like sleeping, my basic hygiene (hygiene probably isn’t important but I always feel gross about myself). I’m not going to lie, I’d probably try to make those small “huts” out of the trees like the guys I watch on YouTube because it seems like a fun little thing to try out.

    More Variables (Resources)

    More Variables (Resources)
Like I said, I don’t eat much so food isn’t really gonna be a problem. But drinks are gonna be a whole new beast. What am I gonna do with drinking water? My solution is hopefully trusting in the weather. If it rains I can collect the water in a clean container. I could also camp near water and learn some ways to filter water. If I really wanted to, I could look through abandoned superstores for any plant seeds and maybe learn how to be a farmer later down the line

    Missouri

    Missouri
I have finally arrived to my destination. After traveling far and wide I have finally reached my girlfriend. After looking back I’m surprised I had the dedication to walk such a distance. Heck, I’m even sort of proud and overall just excited I got what I came here for.

    Retirement Home

    Retirement Home
After some more planning, my girlfriend and I want to travel to a forest in some mountains to isolate ourselves from the word for good. Somewhere near resources like water, like a stream or a river going down hill. After living out in a forest for a while, we could get the hang of making our own primitive technology and mixing with stuff we have to make things better or easier.

    Hunting for Food

    Hunting for Food
We’d of course live by water and collect rainwater as a source for our water. But food is going to be a whole new challenge now that the food I brought from home is all gone. My girlfriend and could eventually advance enough to learn how to make basic tools like bows and arrows to learn how to hunt animals.

    Farming Food

    Farming Food
Given that we can hunt. We could also use some of the seeds from earlier to learn how to farm. We’ll farm mostly grains since those are more easy to maintain in storage, we won’t have refrigeration so fruits and veggies will rot quickly.

    Clothing and Farm Animals

    Clothing and Farm Animals
After a while we will need new clothes. Potentially we could look for animals like sheep to farm them for wool and we could learn to make a primitive weaving device to make twill and make clothing.

    Retrospective

    Retrospective
If you couldn’t tell already, I really want to live like a medieval person but with some help from modern technology and innovation. I don’t know what it is, whether it’s the clothes, or the simplicity of it. I just want to be like a humble medieval farmer for as long as I live with my girlfriend and learn how to survive without the help of technology. Creating primitive technology myself. It’ll be peaceful, give me knowledge and maybe even make me one with nature
