Christopher Colombus arrived in the Americas
Christopher colombus was looking for a faster trade route to Asia.
He sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and arrived in the Americas. He thought he was near Asia because he didn't know the Americas existed. -

Some people came to America as indentured servants (they had to work for a lon time to get their freedom). -

They had many problems.Many of the colonists got sic and died during the first winter. Native Americans lived in North America, they helped the colonists to farm.
This changed life in North America forever! -

Pilgrims were the people who sailed to the Americas because they wanted religious freedom.
They found a colony called Plymouth, where Masaschusetts is today -
Puritans sailed to the Americas
Puritans also wanted religious freedom. And they also settled in Massachusetts. Puritan leades made strict laws.They did not allow people to practice other religions in their colony. -

Both countries wanted the territory west of the Appalachian Mountains. -
French surrended
The french finally surrendered. They lost lot of their land in North America. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Partt was a protest against the British tax on tea.
The tax was extra money the colonists had to pay for tea. -
The War of the Independence
British troops marched from Boston to Lexington and Concord to take the colonists' weapons. The colonists fought back.
Nearly 100 colonists and 250 British soliders were killed or wounded.
That was the beginning of the War for Independence -
The Declaration of Independence
Soon after the war began, representatives for all the colonies met in Philadelphia again.They voted for the independence.
Thomas Jefferson wrote a document explaning why colonists wanted to be independent from Britan. This document was called the Declaration of Independence. -
British surrended
Whith the help of the French, Washinton trapped the British army at Yorktown, Virginia. There, the British surrended.
The war was over! -
Treaty of Paris
Britan and the colonies signed the Treaty of Paris.
This traty made the colonies one independent nation.
