The enlightenment caused the French Revolution because they used many of the enlightenment thinkers ideas and this made a long lasting republic so these ideas caused this as well.

John Locke wrote his book natural rights that inspired the Revolutionsits to get their freedom from the monarchy ideas. -

The Revolutionists used John Locke's idea of nautural rights to otherthrow the french government. They also saw that this is what the Americans did when they had their revolution. They were a monarchy so this idea of natural right didn't sail so smoothly. -

They used Voltaie's idea of getting rid of the estates and drove the king out of his home and started to take over. -
