The History Of Blenders

  • Food Blender 1910

    Not many patents came after this until 1910, but most were issued between 1920 and 1930.
  • Food Blender 1910 Fred Osius

    In 1910 Fred Osius, L.H. Hamilton and Chester Beach started the Hamilton Beach Manufacturing Co.
    Many blenders into the 1920's looked very similar.
    The motor stood on a separate iron stand and was usually adjustable. This company later invented the "Triple Milkshake Blender".
  • Food Blender 1922

    In 1922, Stephen Poplawski, from Racine, Wisconsin was the first to invent what is now sought of as a blender. He attached a spinning blade at the bottom of a container, which he used to make soda fountain drinks.
    Waring, from the band, Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, promoted these blenders to bartenders, for whipping frozen drinks.
  • Food Blender 1933

    In 1933, Fred Osius invented and patented the Miracle Mixer, By September 1937; he had a working model which the put on display at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago. The price was $29.75.
    Waring helped fund this projects development, so that he could puree raw vegetables for his ulcer diet.
  • Food Blender 1950

    By World War II and into the 1950’s, a new mixer, which was mounted on a stand and had a bowl underneath, was replacing the glass-bottomed design. This new style had a more powerful motor and two gear-driven beaters.
  • Food Blender 1954

    Among popular mixer companies were: Vidrio Products, Chicago Electric and Knapp Monarch.
    In 1954 the millionth Waring Blendor was sold and they are still popular today.
