  • Native American Revolts and Complaints against Settlers

    The Native Americans had many issues with the settlers taking over their territory. They had many grievances and complaints that would cause fighting because the settlers could not seem to get along with the Native Americans.

    In the South, slaves revolted against their white owners. This was an important part of immigration issues because it shows the issues that racism causes. These slaves were actually trying to escape and make their way toward Florida.

    The French and Indian War played a big role in immigration in my opinion. This contributes to the issues caused leading up to the American Revolution. Conflict and power struggles can often cause issues which is what people still fear to this day.

  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    Jefferson purchased territory now called Louisiana and expanded the country. This is beginning to create borders.

    Reconstruction Act of 1867
    Organized labor, land, and basically the life of ex-slaves. Caused issues in the South for separating land and labor. This shows the transformation of the south which is a vital piece of how immigration is perceived today.

    Many people fear that the Great Depression can be a reality once again if we let immigrants into America. The great depression was a sad end to the Roaring 20's when the stock market crashed.

    International tensions were at a rise and America slowly was brought closer to world war II. People fear that immigration could lead to flawed ideologies or a third world war.

    There was a horrific attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Japanese attacked pearl harbor and people fear immigration could cause history to repeat itself.

    Americans always fear a nuclear attack. The US attack on Japan could cause fear for immigration

    Tension primarily between the U.S. and Russia. People were scared of Russians coming into the US and attacking as well as bringing down the US.

    US attempted to invade Cuba but failed. This caused Cuba to begin having issues with the US.
