    This was a small group of nobels that hoped to set up a constitutuional monachry. This failed from lack of organization. In return, five leaders were excuted and hundrereds more exiled to Siberia.

    During this process, the serfs where freed but had limitations and gianed few political rights. They had to buy high priced and poor land as well as economic hardships.

    The revoluntaries wanted to establish socialism in Russia. A attempt to enlist peasants into the revolution was made. Because of this, racial groups turned to terroism. Czar Alexander was assinated. The Mensheviks was a large democratic party (white) and the bolsheviks was a small, disciplined party(red).

    Even though Russia had the numbers, Japan easily won over a conflict of Manchuria. The war, with Russia's deffeat, caused great economic harships.

    The revolution of 1905 became known as "Bloody Sunday". Violence and riots followed. With the czar still in power, many where fairly unhappy. This was the base of the 1917 revolution.

    Workers petitioned lead by Father Gapon to protest for better conditions. The cheif of security on his own terms ordered the soldiers to open fire. Nicholas was then nicknamed "Bloody Nicholas".

    Lenin won increasing support as the fill in leader. Her set up a temorary government but it was fairly weak. Lenin made peace with Germany from WWI.
  • Czar Nicholas II Abdicates the Throne

    Czar Nicholas II Abdicates the Throne
    Nicholas was forced to abdicate the throne as the Bolsheviks arrested him. The army in return joins the striking workers. The other leaders set up a new government and continues the war against Germany. Nicholas and family was taken to Yakterinburg in Siberia where they were excuted.

    Russian Civil War
    The Russian Civil War started in 1918 and went to 1921. The Red army (Bolsheviks) took control under Keon Trotsky. The Whit army (Mensheviks) were composed of the British, French, and the United States. The communist won control. Up became the Union of four Republics (later grew to fifteen). Over 6 million where pronounced dead.
  • Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

    Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
    This treaty marked the end of Russia's participation in WWI. Russia lost large chunks of land including Ukraine, Poland, and other baltic territories. Not all the revoluntaries where happy with this arrangement which made them slip and turned up the civil war.
