    In the beginning of the 20th century was an era with rapid economic growth and industralization. Because of the U.S higher wages was millions of immigrants who helped build the country. The U.S joined WW1 in 1917.

It was the first war america had ever "lost". "make love, not war" was the hippies slogan. In 1962, with the cuban missile crisis, the US was on the brink of war with the Soviet Union.

    Civil rights for minorities. women's rights, and the end of the Vientam war. Environmenal issues became important. Recession in the steel industry. The area known as "The stell belt", became known as" The rust belt". Influx of immigrants from Asia, in the aftermath of the US defeated in Vietnam.

    Ronald Reagan and conservative USA. Cold war with the Sovjet Union. The Berlin Wall came down in 1989, and the Civil war came to an end. It is also the decade og MTV and the music videos. Madonna. Micheal Jackson.

    short war in the middle east (Operation Desert Storm). The US did better economically. Immigration increased. The most sigificant changes technologically were the internet and the PC. Reality TV.
