  • End of French and Indian War

    End of French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War lasted from 1754- 1763. During this war, the British and French fought over rights to the Ohio river Valley. The war resulted in a British victory and forced the French out of colonial America. The British victory came at a cost- debt. This debt would fall to the colonies to be paid.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was paased on by the British Parliament. This act was intended to raise money for troops by taxing the American colonists on every piece of printed paper. The colonists thought this was unfair and did not approve so they wanted their rights to be resolved.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This act was passed to tax the colonists on imports of glass, paper lead, paint and tea.The colonials were against this and protested by boycotting English goods becuase of their abuse of power. Parliament lifted all Townshend Acts taxes which lead to a temporary truce between both sides.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was between the patriots and British soldiers. Both sides were unhappy that the soldiers were there to begin with. This fight consisted of throwing snowballs, sticks and stones that lead to five colonists killed by the soldiers. In the end, the soldiers were sent for trial although some were pleaded innocent by trying to defend themselves.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    This event sparked the two sides of American colonies and British Parliament closer to war. The protest of the Americans was to destroy all tea shipments sent by the East India Company to resist from the Tea Act that taxed on tea.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    This act was passed to punish the colonists for destruction of tea during the Boston Tesa Party.The British thought they were able to control over the colonies for what they've done, but they were completely wrong.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was basically a break up note that the colonies gave to Britain to separate from each other. It declared their rights and freedom were taken and abused by the British and they want it back.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This battle was the turning point of the Revolutionary war. The Americans knew that the British were invading and soon the French had joined with them to battle against the British. This gave hope to the Americans.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The Batlte of Yorktown was the last battle of the Revolution. George Washington had declared defeat towards Cornwallis's British Army causing the British to surrender and officially end the war.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    This Treaty was signed by the three American negotiators to formally end the American war of independence, setting the thirteen colonies to be free and independent states.
