What to wear?
On my third birthday, I told my mother I wanted to pick out my own clothes. This reflected Erickson's stage of autonomy vs shame and doubt because at the point in time I developed a sense of independence. The crisis between not coming to this conclusion reflects self doubt and dependency. -
Friends
At 12 I went to a predominantly segregated school. Everyone only attached themselves to their ethnic group. It wasn't until I decided to hang out with another racial group that I began to become bullied. Despite being bullied, I realized that I should not be forced to hang out with a select group of people based on the color of my skin but the depths of their hearts. In Erikson's fifth stage Identity vs role confusion the crisis is developing a sense of self or never developing a self identity. -
Love
At 18 I gained a life partner, someone that I could open up to for the rest of my life. In Erikson's sixth stage of development, Intimacy vs isolation, the decision to share your memories and life with one person vs being alone and isolated from the world in a love sense.
