    The Discovery of America by Columbus
    Christopher Columbus had an idea to sail west across the Atlantic ocean to get to Asia faster. Once Columbus got his approval from Spain he and his crew set sail from Spain in three ships: the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. Instead of landing in Asia he ended up in what is now America. The significance to this "discovery" is that the Europeans now have somewhere to form new colonies. Yet with their victory, the Native Americans now face the extinction of their kind.

    Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in North America. They chose this place because it met many different criteria, for example it was very convenient to the Virginia company which helped found the settlement. Secondly, it was surrounded by water which helped defend against the Spanish attacks. Finally, the water was deep enough for the English to dock their boats along the shore. This is an important date in time because it has helped shape America and it's economy.

    It was British colonies fighting against those of New France. The British ended up winning and it is also called the seven year war. This was an important event because it helped show people that some weren't going to back down.

    This was a political protest by the son's of liberty, the goal was to protest the British parliament's tax on tea. The people's main slogan was " No Taxation without representation". This was an important day in history because it helped rebel on what the high anarchy wanted and helped show what the people needed and wanted.

    This was the first revolutionary battle. British troops were sent to collect all of the colonial weapons but were stopped by and untrained and furious militia. This army defeats 700 British men. This is important because without this victory they would not have any confidence in the war ahead of them.

    This paper declares that America is now independent from the British.That paper states that the 13 colonies severed their ties the to 'mother land' which is Britain. American colonist were able to confirm the French alliance. This was a very important event because this was the day that truly formed our nation.

    The battle was because of the Revolutionary war and General Gorge Washington led the French and the continental troops. All while General Charles Cornwallis led the British troops. Cornwallis knew he was about to b defeated so he surrendered but he didn't actually go to the formal surrender ceremony because he claimed to be sick.

    The Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia met to address the problems of the weak central government that existed under the Articles of Confederation. This was extremely important because it is the foundation n which we have build a nation upon.

    U.S.-born inventor Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin, a machine that revolutionized the production of cotton by greatly speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. It helped the slaves by speeding up the process of taking out the seeds. This is one of the many inventions soon to be created.

    The Alien and Sedition Act
    This act was put into place in order to prepare for an anticipated war with the French. It also increased the residency requirement for American citizenship from five to fourteen years, required aliens to declare their intent to acquire citizenship five years before it could be granted, and made persons from ‘enemy’ nations ineligible for naturalization.

    The United States purchased approximately 828,000,000 square miles of territory from France. President Thomas Jefferson wanted expand west word. They believed in Manifest Destiny and that it was and obligation to explore further.

    Some of the causes of the war were because British attempted to restrict U.S. trade, the Royal Navy’s impressment of American seamen and America’s desire to expand its territory. In the end America won and the British agreed to back off. This is very important because then the borders of Canada would change and it would be very different if it was.
