    The Louisiana Territory was bought on April 30th 1803 by the U.S. The U.S was given this land from France. This helped the United States expand westward to the Mississippi river. The purpose of this land deal was to give New Orleans to the U.S.A. This stretched from the Mississippi river to the Rocky Mountains, the settlers were tremendously attracted to this land. The things that made this land attractive to the settlers was they loved the free access to the Mississippi river.
