The louisiana purchase was made by America to buy a big chunk of land from the french. This expanded the united states alot, causing many travelers to explore this new area. Opening up Westward expansion for everyone. -
Lewis and Clark expedition
This expedition was the first American expedition to cross what is now the western portion of the United States. They departed in 1804 and returned in 1806 bringing many discoveries with them.
They even brought back a Native American girl named Sacagawea. -
Florida becomes a state
In 1819 Florida officially became a state. After much conflict and war Florida was won by America.This expanded the united states even more, and opened up even more possiblilities. -
Indian Removal Act
Not the proudest moment in American history, The Indian Removal act, was an act that forced indians to be removed from their homes. These homless indians will now be forced to walk the trail of tears. This was a tragic time for the indians. -
Trail of Tears
This tragic time for the indians was hard,difficult, and unforgiving.Many indians died on this long trail journey. When the indians finally reached their destination, they rejoiced for their new home. -
Mexican American War
The mexican american war was a gigantic war between United States and Centralist Republic of Mexico. This was a very long and bloody war that lasted from 1846 to 1848. Eventually the americans won and took New Mexico, California, then invaded parts of Northeastern Mexico and Northwest Mexico. -
Transcontinental railway completed
The transcontinental railway was a railroad that streched from the east of america to the west. This railroad provided faster trade, better transportation, and lightning fast mailing. But it also encroached on native american teretory and upset the indians.
