    On December 15th, 1791, the Bill of Rights was created. The Bill of Rights is the collective name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. The Bill of Rights was written by James Maddsion. The Bill of Rights was written so th epeople of America could safe and protected.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was when the Thomas Jefferson purchased approximately 828,000,000 square miles of territory from France. By doing this United States doubed in size. What was known as Louisiana Territory stretched from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the north. Jefferson bought the land for $15 million dollars from Napoleon Bonaparte.

    The Lewis & Clark Expedition

    The Lewis & Clark Expedition was the first American expedition to cross what is now the western portion of the United States. The journey started in St. Louis on the Mississippi River, all the way Pacific coast. Presadent Thomas Jefferson made the two men go on this journey, hoping they would find a water route linking the Columbia and Missouri river. Through out the adventure, the two kept journals to keep track of things.
  • Flordia becomes a U.S. state

    Flordia becomes a U.S. state
    After the end of the Indian war, many people came to make their homes in Florida. In 1513, Juan Ponce de Leon claimed Florida for Spain. But the French were also interested in the territory, so they built Fort Caroline near the mouth of the St. Johns River. A year later Spain destroyed Fort Caroline. Then in 1819 Flordia joined the Union as a slave state.

    The Indaian Removal Act
    The Indian Removal Act was when signed by President Andrew Jackson, authorizing the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A handful of Indian tribes went peacefully, but many resisted. The Native Amercicans then traveled to other tribes and settled there.

    The Trail of Tears

    Between th eyears 1838 and 1839 (I couldn't find an exact date) the Native Americans had to travel to different tribes because President Andrew Jackson wanted the land the Indians had. When the Indians started their journey there was 15,000 people. But when they reached Oklahoma only 3,500 of the 15,000 people survived. The Native Americans had to face hard times. They faced cold weather, no food, and no clothes. Many died of these conditions.

    Mexicn_American War

    The Mexican-American War was when Mexico and the U.S. fought for land. The primary causes of the Mexican-American War were mainfest destiny, westward expansion, economics, and slavery. The United States won the war and Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. The treaty gave the U.S. lands that would become the states of Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, southwestern Colorado, and southwestern Wyoming.

    Transcontinental Railroad Completed
    On May 10th, 1869 the tanscontinental rilroad was completed. For the first time in American history, railways linked together east and west. Some dangers and difficulties that happened during the building were bloody attacks on the workers by Native Americans who were threatened by the workers and their machines.
