    Women Roles
    Before the 1800's women had roles. The primary role of the woman was to be a domestic housewife and barrier of children. Before the 1800's women's rights weren't really an issue because this was the norm of society and women were use to it.
  • 1848 Women's Convention

    1848 Women's Convention
    This was the FIRST ever women's convention. This occured years prior to women beginning to take an interest in having rights and identies. Resolutions are called for the equal rights of women. This was the beginning of a long battle.
  • 1848 Black Women

    1848 Black Women
    During this same time, African-American women were still being enslaved in America. They were solely excluded from this revolution.
  • National Convention of 1850

    National Convention of 1850
    The first ever National Women's Convetion is held is Worcester Mass. This is significant because women continued to strive to be heard. More than 1,000 people attended this event.
  • National Sufferage Association

    National Sufferage Association
    Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton creates the National Sufferage Association. The goal of this was to bring awareness to women's rights and fight together to achieve change.

    NAWSA/ Voting

    This time frame is important because in 1890 women were granted the right to vote. This is also shortly after slavery was abolished and the National Association of Colored Women is formed. The prupose of this was to focus on the rights of black women.

    Women's Wages 1903
    This era was dedicated to improving women's wages. This is important because at this time, and even still today, women were not earning equal pay. This was a huge movement in Women rights history.

    1930-1960 evens

    Margaret Sanger opens the first birth control clinic, this was a huge impovement in women's right's however, the prupose of this clinic was to decrease the number of blacks in the community.
    1920's: US Department of Labor starts to assess women's work conditions and benefits.

    1950-1970 WOMEN WORKING

    At this time it was more common for women to work and alsi more common for women to attend college. At this time we saw an increase in women's independence.

    At this time women are doing virtually everything on their own but the same deeply rooted issues sill exist.

    Women Sronger than EVER!
    Today Women are stronger than Ever! We even have a woman running for president. Gender issues still exist but overall they have improved dragastically.
