    Mussolini reformed the Milan fascio which was the italin combat force consisiting of 200 members. He made Italy a facist country meaning Italy opposed all forms of class war. This resulted in Italy becoming a strong unity as a country.
  • Rise of Joseph Stalin

    Rise of Joseph Stalin
    After Lenin's death Joseph Stalin was able to rise to power in Russia. With this he won the control of the Communist Party. This lead to Joseph Stalin planning 5 year goals for the country to persue.
  • HItler Publishes Mein Kamp

    HItler Publishes Mein Kamp
    The Mein Kamp was Hitler's book about the third reich of Germany. It was his blueprint of his agenda for Germany. The book sold 9,473 copies it's first year. After the success of the first book he would later go on to make a second volume of the book.

    Germany's two main politicians were in abscence so the government appointed Hitler as leader for Germany. The government was reluctant to give Hitler the privelage of beng Chancellor but the choice was made. He would eventually sworn in his cabinet for his role as Chancellor.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt came into presidency at the worst depression in U.S history. Many people were homeless and farmers were losing money. He used the "relief and form" strategy to get the U.S out of depression.

    Germany invaded the Rhineland which broke the Treaty of Versailles. It changed the balance of power helping out the Germans in favor over the French. This made it possible for Germany to pursue eastern europe.

    This was the anexation of Austria by Germany. It was also known as anchluss. Hitler wanted to invade Austria because it was his homeland. This also helped Germany because it was closer to the western european countries.

    All three of the countries joined together to go against the allies. The battles between the two groups were individual but the axis was still a power. The axis started with Germany and Italy joining together and then eventually adding Japan

    The Germans U-boats sunk a british ship to start the war. Britain dropped 13 tons of leaflets over Germany of propaganda against Nazis.

    This was an air war between Britain and Germany. It was the first major battle to be fought entirely of planes. The Germans wanted to gain air superiority over the British Royal Air Force.

    When Italy joined the war this caused countries to go to Africa. The british captued African ports and because of this the Italians lost a large sum of their supplies. The british were able ot take supplies from Africa for themselves.

    This was a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Japan was responsible for the attack. The U.S went into the war one day after the bombing of Peal Harbor.

    The U.S declared war on Japan after the bombing of Peal Harbor. FDR had a ten minute speech on the radio about the U.S attacking Japan.

    America immediately responds to this by starting war against the two axis powers. Germany blamed the U.S for the outbreak of the war.

    American Japanese that lived in california had to move to camps. The U.S was suspicious of the Japanese Americans being help to the Japanese. This was an unfair thing to do because some of the japanese transferred were born in the U.S and had nothiing to do with WW2.

    This was a battle between Japan and the U.S. It was over an island in the middle of the pacific ocean. Both sides wanted the island because it was halfway between the two sides.
  • Operation Torch

    This was when Great Britain and the U.S invaded the beaches of North Africa. This would stop the Germans from getting their supplies for war. The allies won the war and Hitler had to move his shipping points to south africa.
  • Stalingrad

    Stalingrad was a battle between Germany and Russia. Germany wanted to advance into Russia, but they were not succesful in their attack. This helped Russia stop Germany from advancing any further than they would have gone.
  • Victory at Guadalcanal

    This was a battle between the U.S and Japan. They fought to secure the communication lands with their allies. The U.S won after 9 months of fighting.
  • Battle of Tarawa

    This battle was fought between Japan and the U.S. The U.S needed to take over the Mariana Islands which was heavily defended. The U.S needed these Islands to start a launch attack on Japan. The end result of the war was the U.S winning in a bloody battle lasting 76 hours.
  • Operation Overlord

    Also known as the battle of normandy the allies attacked Germany's western side. The first day the allies failed to take over the coasts. A failed counterattack by the Germans led to the allies winning the battle.

    This was a battle between the U.S and Japan in the phillipines. Japan used kamakazies to quickly find a way to the the battle. This was a major ally victory.

    The last major offense of Germany using blitzkrieg. The germans were trying to spit up the allies, but it failed because they ran out of supplies.

    Soldiers of the Soviet Union fought their way to the gates of the nazi camp. They found 6,000 prisoners still alive in the camp.

    This was a battle between the U.S and Japan over an airbase near the Japanese Coast. Theirs a famous photo of the win with the amerian soldiers placing the american flag over the top of the mountain.
  • FDR Dies

    Franklin D. Roosevelt died after his four years as a president leaving Harry Truman to take over for him. Harry Truman was left still in charge of the struggles of WW2. He was also in possesion of one of the most dangerous weapons at the time.

    Hitler was in his bunker at the time of his suicide. It was 55 feet under the chancellors spot. He took a cyanide pill and then shot himself with a pistol.

    Shortly after hitlers suicide Germany surrenders from the war. Dwight D. Eisenhower demanded that they have a complete surrender.

    Stands for victory in europe day. It is know a public holiday celebrated througout all of europe. Due to Hitlers death this caused the entire axis to fall apart.

    A battle fought between Britain and the U.S against Japan in the Ryuku Islands. Largest amphibious assault in the pacific war of world war two. It was the last major battle.

    Hiroshima had industry and military significance for Japan. It was close to the headquarters of a Japanese army base. This was the first atomic bombing by the United States on Japan.

    Nagasaki was the largest seaport in Japan. It was important for Japan because it's wide ranging industrial activity. Nagasaki was the second place the U.S bombed.
