    Guy Ichabod Rowe was assigned ro the US army in 1910. He statred out in Fort Leavenworth and was soon reassigned to bases all around the country. He sailed off to France and became a commander of a batalion.

    Sydney Lewis was 12 years old when he first joined the British army. Like most boys he wanted to be in the army and help. He decided to lie about his age in order to join.
  • Archduke Assassination

    France Ferdinand was assassinated during a carriage ride. A teenage Serbian nationalist gunned down the Archduke and his wife. France believed Serbians were pigs and the Serbians wanted him gone. This is why France Ferdinand was targeted by the Serbian nationalist.

    Russias's massive army was mobilized to attack Austria Hungary. It did this to help it's all Serbia. This mobilization started a chain reaction with the other great powers. The other great powers started to get involved and mobilize their troops after Russia.

    Shrapnel caused horrific facial injuries to soliders during WW1. They were nasty zig zag cuts that caused some soliders to be unrecognizible. Suregon, Harold Gillies saw these soliders and was distrout about the facial injuries. He designed new techniques to restore these soliders faces.

    Germany invaded Belgium after the contraversey over the Archduke Assassination. Germany took control of Belgium quickly and with little effort. Germany did lose more soliders than estimated which helped Belgium's allies defeat Germany.

    Norman Wilikson created a new and bold way to camouflage war ships. He was a painter and was inspired to support these Royal Navy. He painted bold colors on ships in order to confuse their enemy.

    Soliders during WW1 created trench warfare. This is when to army's create trenches to hide in. Most soliders that were apart of these trench warfares almost never saw the line of fire and were stuck doing the same routine everday.

    I consider this a key event because it was the first large gas attack, in history.Germany used shells filled with chlorine to damage the French army. This gas attack crippled France greatly and sent many soliders home blind.

    A german torpedo hit a british on it's way from New York to Liverpool. The ship was carrying over 1,198 people. This included 128 Americans on board. This is when the United States decided to get involved in WW1.

    This pool was created during WW1 by British troops. This pool is estimated to be 40ft deep. The water fills a crater created during the war. The trench was created by 45 tons of explosives detonated by British troops.

    Guy Rowe was a commanding officer of a batalion. This was during his second tour to the front line. He wrties to his sister and mom how homesick, lovesick, and good food sick he is.

    Guy Rowe, wrote a letter to his sister and mom about his personal hygiene. He said says that he has only had one bath in the past 6 weeks. He has only had time to take of his clothes twice in the last 6 weeks as well.

    Guy Rowe was said to command the last line of defense between the enemy and Paris. His batalion was flanked on three sides of the enemy and still held off the enemy. He was later recognized in a newspapaer for this heroic victory.

    Guy Rowe was put in the Paris newspaper for his heroic actions. The title of the article was "The Savior of Paris". As commaner of his batalion he was givin the credibilty of keeping enemy forces from invading Paris.
