    This was the first battle to ignite war. It was in the Europeran theatre. Germany invaded Poland, using a new form of attack Blitzkrieg. The Germans dominated the Poles in a matter of weeks.

    This took place in the Europe theatre. The Germans invaded through the Ardennes and surprised the French troops along with the British, leading to the entrapment of many soldiers. The troops then attempted to evacuate but were not very successful, with heavy losses. The Germans succeeded in taking France.

    The Battle of Britain was fought in the Europe theatre. It was the first major battle fought entirely in the air. The battle involved the British Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe. The German tried to invade Great Britain to gain air superiority but were defeated by the superior RAF.

    This was fought in the Pacific theatre. The Japanese led an air attack on the American naval base Pearl Harbor. They caused massive damage to the Pacific fleet and caused the US to join the war.

    This was fought on the Pacific theatre. It was between the US and Japan. The Japanese constantly bombarded the island, leading to the surrender of the all US soldiers in the country. A major Japanese victory.
  • Midway

    This was a battle fought in the Pacific theatre. It was fought between the American and Japanese Navys. Japan had a much greater amount of ships, but the US decoded the Japanese plans and dominated them in one of the most decisive victories of the war.
  • El Alamein

    This battle was fought in the North African theatre. It was fought between the British and the united German and Italian troops led under Rommel. The Axis were trying to hold a boundary, but the great numbers of the Allies proved too much. The Germans ended up retreating.
  • Guadalcanal

    This battle was fought in the Pacific theatre by the Americans and the Japanese. The Americans lauched a surprise attack to capture and airbase and although both sides had heavy losses, the Japanese had greater losses and withdrew from the island. This was an American victory.

    This battle was fought in the Europe theatre and it was fought between the Germans and the Russians. The Germans were launching an offensive on Stalingrad, while the Russians dug in defeating the Germans. This was a turning point of the war, the Germans were being pushed back.

    This batle was fought in the European theatre between the British, Americans, Germans, and Italians. The allies invaded successfully pushing all axis troops out of sicitly and then prepared for the Italy mainland invasion. This was a major allied victory.

    This is also known as the Battle of Normandy, it was fought on the European theatre. It was an amphibious invasion by American, British, and Canadian troops against an axis controlled France. It was mainly an easy taking except for Omaha Beach, where more than 4,000 Americans lost their lives. It was a crucial allied victory to storm the beach head.

    This Battle was in the Europe theatre. The Germans attempted to split the American armies in Northwest Europe. The Germans despite many American losses were defeated by General Patton's decisive tactics.

    This battle was fought in the Pacific theatre between the Americans and the Japanese. The US needed a base close to Japan for new bombing raids so they targeted Iwo Jima. The Americans invaded and were faced with guerrilla warfare, but they eventually wiped out all of the defenders. This war was a US victory.

    This battle took place in the Pacific theatre between the Japanese and the Americans. The US was trying to capture airbases for the final invasion of Japan. They invaded the island losing 65,000 men compared to the Japanese 77,000 men lost. It was an American victory.
  • V-E Day

    This was in the European theatre between the Germans and all of the allies. The Germans finally surrendered on this day resulting in Victory-Europe Day.
  • Hiroshima

    This was in the Pacific theatre between the US and Japan. The US went on a bombing raid with a new top secret weapon, an atomic bomb. The bomb was devastating killing tens of thousands of people.
  • Nagasaki

    This was in the Pacific theatre. It was between the US and Japan. This was the second atomic bombing of Japan. This led to the surrender of Japan. This marked the end of the war.
  • V-J Day

    This was in the Pacific theatre. This was between the US and Japan. This was the day that Japan surrendered to the US.
