  • G.I Bill

    G.I Bill
    The G.I Bill was a law that gave benefits for returning World War Two Veterans. The benefits included things like low-cost mortgages, low interest loans to start a business, and cash payments for tuition. This went all the until 1956 with over 2 million veterans having the G.I Bill. This happened all over America for any veteran that needed extra help financially.
  • Baby Boomers

    Baby Boomers
    Baby boomers where people that where born during the post-war from 1946 to 1964. They were called the baby boomers because when the men came home from war there was major change in the birth rate. It happened all throughout America.
  • Men Wanting Jobs Back

    Men Wanting Jobs Back
    After World War Two the men came back from war and they wanted the their jobs back. Women had taken over the work force when the men were at work but now the women do not want to go back to their house jobs. The men wanted their jobs back all over the country.
  • Cold War

    Cold War was from 1946 to 1991. The Cold War was when the Americans and their allies where against the Soviet Union and their allies. They were fighting because of military and political tension after World War Two. Its called cold because there was no fighting involved.
  • Korean War Begins

    The Korean War was a war against North and South Korea. The United Stated sided with the South. This is where the 38th parallel comes in. That was when they split Korea into two parts which are known as North and South. This war went all the way until July 27 1953. The war didn't really end they kind of went seperate ways.

    Communsim was a type of a political party. About 150 million Americans were members. Communsim is when everyone is given equal shares in society. The also kept controll over production in the state. This was going on all over America.
  • Rock n' Roll

    A group of perfrormers started the Rock n Roll era. This type of music took off in the 1954's. Elvis Presly was a major role in the Rock n' Roll music. All the kids and teenagers loved him but the parents hated him because they thought it was inappropiate. Rock n' Roll originated from blues music.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks was a major role in the 1950's because she was the only women that stood up for the African American race. She believed that African Americans should get treated the same as white people. She was very brave at this time to be standing up for what she believed in because of all the slavery isuues going on at this time. The bus boycott was when she sat in the front of the bus when only white people where suppose to and she didnt give up her seat. This happened in Montgomery, Alabama.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik
    Sputnik was the first earth satellite. It was a polished metal sphere with four external ratio antennas. It is used to broadcast ratio pulses. We were in a space race with Soviet Union when they launched it into a low earth orbit. This satellite provided scientist with lots of information.
  • NASA

    NASA
    NASA stands for National Aeronautics Space Administration. NASA is the government agency responsible for science and technology. Nasa makes satallites to send to different places like the moon or other plants which lets scientists study things on other planets without them being there.
