  • Estates General

    Estates General
The King decided to gather all of the Estates' representatives. Each person wrote out their problems. The issue began when voting started, they realized each estate only got one vote. The outcome would end with the third estate always losing. Both first and second estates are wealthier members and don't get taxed. The reason for this meeting is because 97% of the population is angry for being treated unfairly. This event is significant because it led to the storming of the Bastille short after.
  • Jacques Necker

    Jacques Necker
Jacques Necker was sent to the King to propose a plan that would reduce spending. His plan was to tax the first two estates. The King and first two estates rejected this idea and fired him on July 11, 1789. They didn't like this proposal because they would be forced to lose some money. Contrastingly, the third estate approved of Jacques Necker and were angry with the King's decision to fire him. This was significant to the French Revolution because it caused the third estate to become furious.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
People in the third estate are angry with the lack of change. They decide that if King won't make a shift, they will. All pro-Revolutionists marched to the Bastille to take it over. The Bastille was chosen because, to them, it was a symbol of authority and abuse; it was a prison for the people that made King angry. This consisted of all supporters of the Revolution. They ended up killing the commander. It was significant because it was the first major event taken place during the Revolution.
