    Because of the bad financial situation of France, King Louis XVI agrees to the first meeting of The Estates General in 175 years. The 3rd Estate was locked out of the meeting. This was when the National Assembly was formed.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    The Bastille was a royal prison and enemies of the crown and gunpowder was kept there. Revolutionaries stormed the Bastille to take down the symbol of royal authority in Paris, free prisoners, and get gunpowder to arm themselves against the royal army approaching Paris.

    The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
    National Assembly met and created this document to protect individual rights in the new nation.

    Crowds of Parisian women, mostly strong fishmonger's wives storm the palace demanding bread for their families. After this, the royal family was brought to Paris.

    He was convicted by the National Convention after being caught trying to escape with his family from Paris, where they were forced to move to from Versailles. He was put on trial for conspiracy and treason and was decapitated.

    Robespierre, head of the Committee of Public Safety, makes terror "the order of the day". Anyone who is suspected of being against the new France is beheaded. Robespeirre equates virtue with terror.

    After many become upset with the amount of killing during the Reign of Terror, Robespeirre is overthrown after he withholds a new list of people suspected of being traitors to the National Convention. He and his allies were guillotioned the day after they were arrested, without trials.

    After Napoleon becomes a prominent military man, he solidifies his place in the public with a series of acts called Napoleonic Settlement. He establishes France with the papacy again and fixed the financial issues. He crowns himself emperor and tried to start the Bonaparte Dynasty
