Atchison, Topeka, Santa Fe and the Union Pacific railroads completed rail lines through the area.

Pio Pico Mansion: a museum located in Whittier. The old owner was named Pio de Jesus Pico IV. He pasedt away on September 11, 1894 and is now a museum.

Rivera's first school: Maizeland school, 27 years of useful service. Now can still be seen at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California

El Rancho High School first opened its doors with three classes attending and an enrollment of 752 students.

Pico Rivera was established. Most of the people of Pico and Rivera voted on to make both places into one place.
