    Germany, Italy, and Japan sign the Tripartite Act and offically become the axis power. This allince was formed to keep the US out and if they attacked one of them then they had to deal with all of them.

    Roosevelt decided to break the two-trem presidency tradition and run for a third term. His apponent for some reason agreed with his policy of aiding Britain and the they were both alike that the people just voted for the person they knew best, which was roosevelt.

    Great britain was running out of money to support its army for military weapons and Roosevelt acting as president decided to help a nation out by lending weapons to Britain. He got the Lend-Lease Act passed because he used a simile and said this was like lending a water hose to your neighboro to put out a fire and that you would do this to prevent the fire from spreading on to your property.

    The enemy of my enemy is my friend
    The lend-lease act also went to helping the Soviet Union with weapons as well. Many Americans were aganist this idea of helping Stalin but roosevelt was positive this was a great idea.
  • Signing of the atlantic Charter

    Signing of the atlantic Charter
    FDR and churchill met in the summer on aboard the USS Augusta to talk about the outcome of the war and they both sign the atlantic charter, which was a joint declaration of war goals. This included: freedom of the seas, collective security, economic cooperation, disarmament and self-determination. The US is picking sides by supporting the allies over the axis powers.

    A german sub fired and destroyed a US navy ship, which caused roosevelt to make the decision to attack any german subs on sight. This led to the destruction of the Pink Star, Kearny, and Reuben James with over 100 dead sailors. This event led to the senate deciding on a full flege war.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    When Japan attacked the US in Hawaii, which was a state to the US. Roosevelt went to congress to get a decalration of war and he said " A date that will live in infamy". Over 2000 people dead and 1000 injuried and this was the largest attack on America until 2001. They attacked us because we stopped trading oil with them and Japan wanted to dominate the Eastern side of the world and we were in their way. This offical brought the US into WWII and out of isolationism.
