  • 1745 Attack on Louisbourg

    1745 Attack on Louisbourg
    Who won?  British
The French built this fortress and major trading port called Louisbourg. The fortress was very grand. All the French goods that were destined for trading with first nations people passed through this port. By capturing Louisbourg the British cut off the supply of French goods. Date: 1745  I think it affected the war because the British cut of the supply of French goods which weakened the French economy and strengthened the British economy.
  • Ohio Valley

    Ohio Valley
    Who won? British
The British, the French, and the first nations people clashed against each other for the transportation route on the Ohio River. Date: 1754   I think it affected the war because it made the British more powerful because they got the transportation route. That helped the British strengthen their economy and weaken France's economy.
  • The Expulsion of the Acadians

    The Expulsion of the Acadians
Who won? British In the 1700s the British kicked the Acadians out of their settlement located in the Maritimes. The British thought the Acadians were a threat to taking their land so they deported them to other British colonies. Date: 1754 I think it affected the war because The British got stronger. They got more land and they made sure that the Acadians were removed so that they were no longer a threat to taking the British land away in that area.
  • The Battle of Fort Oswego

    The Battle of Fort Oswego
    Who won? French
    (Montcalm)
The Battle of Fort Oswego was one of France's first victories. The fall of Fort Oswego effectively interrupted the British presence on Lake Ontario and removed it as a threat to the nearby French-controlled Fort Frontenac.  Date: 1756  I think it affected the war because the British fort was being attacked so they were weakened. The French got stronger because they took over the British fort.
  • Attack on German Flatts

    Attack on German Flatts
Who won? France. France's Governor, Marquis de Vaudreuil, wanted German settlers in the Mohawk River Valley to follow him and support the attack on Fort William Henry. They did not support him and to punish them he attacked a settlement called German Flatts. The French killed 50 German settlers and took 150 prisoners to Montreal. I think it affected the war because the French got stronger and taught people a lesson that if they did not support France they would be punished.
  • The Siege of Fort William Henry

The Siege of Fort William Henry
    Who won?  French
    (Montcalm)
The siege of Fort William Henry happened in 1757. They took Fort William Henry under general Lois Joseph De Montcalm their leader. While controlling the lake this also helped them for transportation. Date: 1757  The French got stronger because the French controlled the lake for Transportation. This would help them not get attacked because it was their river and it would also help them to attack the British.
  • Siege of Louisbourg

    Siege of Louisbourg
Who won? Britain. Louisbourg controlled the main waterway entrance to Canada and was a large seaport. Louisbourg threatened to ruin the fisheries that were very important to England. William Pitt from Britain gave the duty of capturing the Fort to General Amhurst.   It affected the war because the British won and improved their strength in the war by making the French surrender and taking Fort Louisbourg which weakened France's naval protection and weakened France's defense.
  • The Plains of Abraham

    The Plains of Abraham
    Who won? British
In the middle of the night, the British, under General Wolfe sends troops up the cliffs as a sneak attack on Quebec City. In the morning there are 4000 British on the plain just outside the walls of Quebec City named the Plains of Abraham because the battle was on the land originally owned by a farmer named Abraham Martin. The fight was formal. This affected the war because the French surrendered Quebec to the British and left the city. Losing Quebec weakened the French.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
Who won? Britain In 1763 the Treaty of Paris was signed and Britain obtained many territories from France. France had to give up all of their main territory claims in North America. Britain gained Cape Breton Island, Canada (including the Great Lakes Basin), the East Bank of the Mississippi River and Florida. I think the Treaty of Paris affected the War because when it was signed it officially ended the 7 years war.
