  • The Titanic Sinks

    The Titanic Sinks
    On the 11th of April 1912 the Titanic set sail leaving Southampton to New York. On the 15th of April, 4 days after the Titanic setting sail, she hit an iceberg just south of Newfoundland, Canada. The Titanic was carrying 2,200 passengers and crew members and sadly 1,500 of the passengers/crew sank to the bottom of the atlantic ocean with the ship.
  • World War 1 Starts

    World War 1 Starts
    WW1 started on July 28th 1914 and officially ended on November 11th 1918. The First World War also was considered the Great War. During this period, 17 million people were killed. Now on November 11th we wear poppies as a sign of remembrance for the people who died during this time and to remind people of the horrors of war.

    The Holocaust was during the period of time when Hitler became the chancellor of Germany from January 30 1933 till may 9th 1945. During this period the Jewish in Europe were sentenced to persecution which led to the murder of 6,000,000 Jews. This was Hitler’s plan called the "final solution."

    The first computer was called the Z1 and was created by a German named Conrad Zuse. This computer was so big it took up most of his parent's living room. It is considered to be the first binary programmable computer, it was also the first really functional modern computer.
  • The Attack on Pearl Harbor

    The Attack on Pearl Harbor
    During World War 2, Japan attacked the naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii called pearl harbor. This was a suprise attack that cost the Americans 2,000 men and wounded 1,000. Ontop of that, 20 naval ships were destroyed including eight enourmous battle ships and 100 fighter planes.

    On August 6th1945, the Americans dropped a 5 ton bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The American president Harry S Truman ordered the weapon to be used for a quick end to the war.

    On August 15th 1947 India was given independence by the English after 89 years through the help of Gandhi’s peaceful protests such as the salt march. Gandhi is a very important person in Indian and the world’s history.

    "I Have a Dream" Martin Luther King
    On August 28th 1963, Martin Luther King Jr delivered a speech to end racisim in the United States. He delivered it to over 2,500 civil rights supporters at the steps of Lincon mermorial. The speech he delivered titled "I have a Dream" is one of the most famous speech's of all time.
  • The first man to walk on the moon

    The first man to walk on the moon
    On July 21tst 1969 Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first people on the moon. On the spaceflight were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Neil Armstrong was the first to walk on the moon and that was when he said a quote that is famous to this day “One small step for men, one giant leap for mankind”.

    Hand of God
    Diego Maradona scored his famous goal with his hand against England. This goal put Argentina through to the semifinals in the Mexico World Cup. This goal is one of the most famous goals in football history and is also known as the hand of god.
