Osburn Burke
Burke was born in Gallatin in 1867. Burke was alive for 93 years. Burke grew corn, alfalfa, grapes and wine. -
Maizeland
In 1868 Rivera built its first school the Maizeland. Eventually after 27 years they moved the Maizeland to the Albert Mcdonald farm to be used as a utility building. -
Trains
In 1947 the commemorative run occurred. After this event happened, the overhead trolley wires were removed and the track began serving diesel freight train. -
The Eternal Flame
The eternal flame monument was created to honor “all veterans past and present.” It is located in Pico Rivera, right across from Smith Park. A ceremony is held every year on memorial day. -
El Rancho
El rancho officially opened in 1952. El rancho is located in Pico rivera and it is part of the el rancho unified school district -
Los Angeles 61st City
Pico Rivera eventually became Los Angeles County 61st city with an area of 7.6 square miles, a population of 52,113 , and an assessed valuation estimated at around $52 million. -
The First Library in Pico Rivera
Pico Rivera’s first library is “one of a few county-city libraries built with a round architectural design.” It was opened in the 1960’s and is still standing. -
An award
was given to El Rancho High School for its football program and given to a legendary coach, Ernie Johnson in the 1960's. -

In the year 2000, it was reported that there were 63, 428 people living and 16, 468 households, in Pico RIvera. -

In 2016, Pico Rivera won an award for being the most business friendly in the LA County. -
