Maize Cultivation
(prior to 1491) Before Columbus discover the Americas Native Cultures interact with one another in isolation. The hunting and gathering tribes of the Great Basian and Plains recived a massive cultural and societal impact with new irragations systems from the Mexican Natives helped the grow maize in dry areas and this lead to some tribes being able to form permanetcivilzations. -

Spanish Conquistador Franciso Pizarro kills Incan Emperor Atahuallpa, marking the end of the Incan Empire and the insertation of Spanish langague, culture, and religion throughout what would be known as Latin America. -

On this date the Spanish settlement St Augustine was built becoming the first permant European settlement in America. -
James Town was created
England's first permanent settlement came in 1607 when Jamestown was founded by the Virginia. Unlike the Spanish the English formed settlements to support families. The First settlers fought and try to convert the near by Powhatan tribe. The English sought to implant Anglocian ideals into the New World -
Slavery in Virginia
With the shortage of indentured Servants the Virginia plantion owners need a cheap labor source. In 1619 a group of Black Africans were brought over by the Dutch to Virginia. At the time the English didn't recongize African Slavery and were also too poor to afford African slaves. Later in 1660 however the Virginia House of Burgesses made it so Africans where bondages to White plantion owners. African slavery would change Southern Culture and Society forever. -
Plymouth
The Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts is established by Pilgrims from England in the Northern Colonies New England colonies is was all religous base as the pilgrams developed their own society and culture apart from the Chruch of England. -
Halfway Covenant
In order to help mantain their religous society the Puritans in New England established the halfway covenant that allowed people to become partial chruch memebers without having full conversion. -
KIng Phillps War
A chief of the Wampanoags Tribe named Metacom (King Philip) lead a alliance of many tribes in southern new England to fight English encroachment on the Native land. After a year of harsh fighting the English won killing King Philip, and ending any major resistance of Native Americans in that region and neutrelazing most of their tribes. -
French and Indian War
Known as the French and Indian war in the American theatre of the war this conflict last for 7 years until 1763. The lasting impact of American Society and Culture this war had was tremendous, during the earlier stages of the war the English army suffered defeats at `the hands of the French and Indians so the colonist decide to take and formed a army to fight off the Indians using Guerrila Warfare which was successful and changed the colonist opinon whether they should be protected by England. -
First Continental Congress
First Continental Congress meets in Philadelphia, with 56 delegates representing every colony except Georgia. Delegates include Patrick Henry, George Washington, and Samuel Adams . The First Continetal Congress is a symbol of American Ideology that every man should be free. -

The American Revolution lasted from (1775-1783), this was the actual struggle for Americans to break away and form its own society under Enlightment ideals. -

Thomas paines common sense was published to advocate for independence from the British Monarchy. The ideals were pieced togther from the Englightment and Common Sense would later be the basis of the Declartion of Independence. -

During the 19th Cenutry a new literature movement in the U.S began called Transcendentalism. Their ideas for society was that if people look for one's inner self in God essence of nature. -
