    Ulawun is a volcano located on the island Papua New Guinea, about 130 km southwest of Rabaul. Ulawun is the highest mountain on the island, and one of the most active volcanoes in Papua New Guinea. Several thousand people are neighboring next to the volcano. Current Analysis have shown that Ulawun releases about 2% of the global total of sulfur dioxide in Earth's atmosphere.

Mount Nyiragongo has erupted over thirty four times and still is extremely active towards this day.
