MaoZedong heads Long March
The Long March was instrumental in alowing the victory of the communist party over the nationalist party in china. This long march lasted for just enough time to alow japan to invade so the comunists had time to regroup. MaoZedong was the leader of the comunists movement and used the long march as a propaganda deploy to gain folowers. The Comunist movement eventually won. -
Germany invades Poland; France and Great Britain declare war on Germany
At the time, germany was headed b the nazi party and their leader Adolf Hitler. To Hitler, the conquest of Poland would bring Lebensraum, or “living space,” for the German people. Britain and france thought otherwise they quickly declared war on germany and ww2 began. -
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
In 1941, just before the sun rised, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The barrage lasted just two hours, but it was devastating. They destroyed every barge and raft in the area. -
United Nations formed
The UN was formed after WW2 to prefent just that. It was made up of different nations that replaced the faulty leauge of nations and are still in effect today. -
Germany surrenders
One of the biggest turning points in the war was the invasion of normandy or D Day. It was the largest invasion in history that secrued normandy and eventually france. The allies eventually pushed germany all the way back to their origional territoty and Adolf Hitler commited suicide knowing that he would be excuited. -
Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The Atomic bomb was first created with a top secret project in Manhatten called the Manhatten project. The U.S. government began funding its own atomic weapons development program. They droped 2 bombs on nagasaki and Hiroshima and decimted the area, killing civilians.
