    The balkan wars were tied with two conflicts that deprived the Ottoman Empire of all its remaining territory in Europe. In 1913 Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, and Romania Had conflict.
    The balkan wars originated in Serbia, Bulgaria, and Greece.

  • Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand

    Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    The start of the “Great War” also known as WWI started between 1914-1918 due to an assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The person who shot Franz was a teenaged Serbian revolutionary. Franz and Sophie left their estate to Bosnia-Herzegovina. On their route a secret revolutionary shot Franz next to Sophie which caused tension throughout Europe and so on triggered WWI (Greenspan, 2020).
  • Lusitania sinks

    Lusitania sinks
    Lusitania, a WWI ship that was used by the United States during the early 1900s for trades was sunk by a German torpedo. That torpedo killed 1,195 people that included 148 Americans. This is what set off an anti-German petition that sooner involved the United States to join in WWI. Even though the ship was made for trade and travel, the Lusitania was secretly modified into a war ship. (McDermott, 2022)

    Battle of Verdun

    The Battle of Verdun, also known as one of the longest battles of modern wars. It was an original plan by the German chief Erich von Falkenhayn to secure a victory on the Western Font. Their goal was to destroy the French army before they could get reinforcements from the British army. With out the Frenches divisions, the Allied powers wouldn't be able to fight on the Western Front. (Imperial War Museums, 2023)

    Battle of the Somme

    From July all the way to November, the battle of Somme lingered. As the Allied powers fought offensively against the Germans on the Western Front. This battle was set as one of the most deadly and costly battles ever in human history. The British Forces faced 57,000 casualties and 19,000 soldiers dead. After 5 months nearly 3 million soldiers on each powers have died. (History.com Editors, 2023)

    Zimmermann Note
    The Zimmermann Note was a secret note from the Germans to mexico. The note contained a proposition to ally with each other. The Note was also a note of ally to japan as well. The telegram was sent through in unrestricted sub-warfare. (National WWI Museum and Memorial, 2023)

    Although the U.S was a neutral country and just wanted to stay out of the conflict, people of the U.S favored war readiness. They volunteered in war and supported isolationism. All of the allied support the U.S was giving, it gave them a financial problem. The trade boat called “Lusitania” was sunk by a German U-boat and which carried 148 U.S citizens on board.     The Russian Revolution dated back in 1917, was the overthrow of the 3 century rule of the Romanov dynasty. Czar Nicholas II and his family were thrown in a cellar and killed by Bolshevik revolutionaries. This put the Bolsheviks in power. (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023)

    Russia withdrew from the war due to turmoil and failures in the military. Russia also had economic struggles after the revolution. After the revolution, the government of Russia was also falling apart as well. All of this caused the USSR to withdraw from the war. (History for Kids, 2023)

    The U.S marines advanced, the German intelligence noted that the second division of the U.S was a force to be reckoned with. The enemy planned on isolating the British from the French. The Allied powers won the battle. The battle located in Paris.(History on the Net, 2023)

    Battle of Argonne

    From September 26 - Nov 11, 1918; The battle of Argonne was a final confrontation on the western front in WWI. The Americans pushed offense against the German. Once Germany realized they were getting flanked, they retreated. While retreating, France advanced clearing most of the forest of German troops. (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023)

    Armistice of WWI
    The Armistice ended the tension between Germany and the Allies. The Armistice did not end WWI alone, it was the agreement to stop fighting on the Western Front until the agreement of total peace was settled. With Germany's military weakened and no support from the home front, they had no other choice to agree to the terms for the opposing army. The terms that Germany signed was to move out of already occupied territory and also was to surrender weapons and supplies to the Allies (Sawer, n.d.).

    The League of Nations was first created on January 10, 1920. November 15, 1920 was the first meeting of the Nations. 41 members represented 70% of the world's population assembled in Geneva. The League of Nations was open to any self-governing states or colonies. This fulfilled the two-thirds of the majority votes of their admissions. (United Nations, n.d.).
