    Meeting of the Estates General Assembly
    An assembly, held in Versailles, which had representatives of the three estates: The clergy of the Roman Catholic Church from the First Estate, the nobles from the Second Estate, and the bourgeoisie, farmers and lower class from the Third Estate. This was the first meeting of the Estates General Assembly in 175 years, and it's purpose was to discuss King Louis XVI new tax on the nobles.

    The National Assembly was created by the Third Estate. The National Assembly would be one to pass laws and reforms in the name of all of the French people. They wanted to abolish the absolute monarchy and establish a representative government.

One day, when the delegates from this Estate went to a meeting, they found that the doors were locked so that they couldn't vote or participate in the meeting. So they broke into a indoor tenis court in the building and they swore that they will not stop meeting untill there is a new constitution.

    In this day, a mob of french citizens seized the Bastille Prison to get weapons for the fight, and also they freed some prisioners. This made the king realize, that he was going aggainst powerful people.

    In this meeting, nobles made speeches and declarations of their love for liberty and equality. The nobles joined the men from the National Assembly to abolish feudalism, so that everyone had equal rights in France.

    This document stated that all man are equal, free, and have the same rights of: liiberty, property, security, and to rebel if their rights are not respected. All men will have right to equal justice, freedom of religion and speech.

    In this day, women broke into the palace of the king and queen, killing several guards. They were protesting about the rising cost of bread, they forced the king and queen to leave Versalles and go back to Paris.

    The National Assembly created a new Constitution, which changed the government into a constitutional monarchy. It created the new Legislative Assembly, which created laws and approved or rejected declarations of war.

    The French and other Monarchies in Europe like Prussia and Austria, entered in war in order to try to reestablish the absolute monarchy in France. On August 10, the king of France and his family was imprisioned again.

    The members of the Legislative Assembly declare Louis XVI deposed, and establish a republic instead of a monarchy.

    King Louis was tried and found guilty of treason and beheaded in front of the citizens.

    Robespierre and his Reign of Terror

    Maximilien Robespierre became the head of the Committee of Public Safety. His job was to protect the Revolution from rebels. He tried and executed people everyday, he even executed innocent people, which led to a lot of terror in France. This reign of terror ended when Robespierre was executed in July 28 1794.
